Green wood stool making
Rushmere Farm's green wood stool making course teaches you the basics of working with green wood. From tree to stool in a weekend. On Saturday you will be shown through the woodlands of the farm and told about the past, present and future of the land and wildlife that surrounds you. You'll have the opportunity to discuss the properties and potential of different wood types, and to choose your wood from trees felled for you. Returning to the workshop you will be taught about the art of working with green wood, and given guidance as you split from the log and shape the components of your stool. A hearty lunch will keep you going through the day, and in the evening we'll take you to the village pub for dinner before an evening around the bonfire (weather permitting). Basic accommodation, and Sunday breakfast will be provided before joinery and finishing touches to the woodwork. Refuel, a hands on lesson in in seat weaving using natural hemp, and we're done.
All tools and materials are included. Basic accommodation can also be provided. On Saturday lunch is provided and we normally eat at the pub for dinner. On Sunday breakfast and lunch are provided. Please advise us of any dietary requirements. We typically provide seasonal food, for lunches and for breakfast, local bacon and eggs, or cereal.
